His hard work coordinating with the City of Beaumont, communicating with FunTeam families and planning weekly hockey practices has made Tom such a reliable volunteer. It’s in his family’s blood as you’ll see the rest of his family volunteering their time as well to make sure Saturdays are as fun as they can be.

Tom Kryzanowski has been the lead volunteer, responsible for organizing the Beaumont FunTeam Shinny Hockey group for 10+ years. Saturdays at the École Bellevue School outdoor rink have been the spot for participants aged 6-18 to play and learn the game Alberta loves and Coach Tom never misses a session. As long as the weather allows for there to be ice, you’ll see Tom preparing snacks and beverages, teaching skills and drills and playing with the kids.

FunTeam Alberta's success is primarily attributable to our chief asset: the volunteers. Without these hardworking, dedicated individuals, FunTeam would not be able to achieve its mandate of low-cost, family-oriented sporting opportunities. Without Tom, there is no FunTeam Beaumont Shinny Hockey.

It is with great honour that FunTeam Alberta recognizes Tom as the 2023 recipient of the Randy Gregg Volunteer Award. This award is handed out annually to the volunteer that best embodies the principles of FunTeam and is an ambassador for the organization in his community through his actions. Tom has displayed leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to supporting youth by making considerable efforts to make hockey accessible and fun for the City of Beaumont.
